Taking the shirt off another back
Feeling a bit like a schoolboy bunking off his lessons local Insolvency Practitioner, BRI Business Recovery and Insolvency’s Peter Windatt, cancelled his normal Wednesday night training session in order to support his beloved Blaze ice-hockey team in their mid-week match against Edinburgh to which his Coventry office team were also taking some guests.
While his students did not know the reason for his cancelling training mild mannered Peter, by day an Insolvency practitioner, by night a 4th Dan Kempo Karate Instructor, could not hide his joy at finally winning an Exmedia Game Worn Shirt in the raffle at the exciting mid-week match. The #28 Steven Chalmers shirt, hot, and sweaty, off the back of the player at the end of a game where Steven, a defence man, scored the first goal of the match and his first ever goal for the Blaze will be worn to future matches by Peter with pride. Everyone, except the few fans who made the long trip from Edinburgh, enjoyed a great night out at the Skydome.
48 year old Peter, who, until then, was still wearing an Ashley Tait (#21 and former Blaze captain – now playing for Sheffield Steelers) replica shirt which he had been given for his 40th birthday, is looking forward to watching the Challenge Cup home match on Sunday against Sheffield, without the feeling of guilt that by wearing this shirt he somehow had a foot in both camps. “Chalmers is a Brit who has earned his place in the team on merit through hard work – I am proud to be wearing a Blaze shirt with a Union Flag on the front and from such an important game in Steven’s career”.
If you haven’t watched a live ice hockey match you really ought to get along to one soon and support Coventry’s finest. Go to www.coventryblaze.co.uk for more information.
