"Giving the right advice, first time, every time"

A Course with a View

15 September 2016: Somewhere, seemingly hidden amongst the narrow winding roads and inviting country pubs of rural Hertfordshire, is the beautifully presented Stevenage Golf Centre. At this centre is the opportunity to try your hand at the rapidly growing and exceedingly fun sport of footgolf – and that is exactly what BRI staff members and their enthusiastic guests did, on a fine late summer’s day.

Following introductions and light refreshments, with a beaming sun smiling down on the participants, the attendant players, making up four separate teams, headed out onto the course to commence competition. Footgolf veterans will have soon recognised the clever pin positions, which made for a challenging and exciting round.

The round itself saw a fair share of ups and downs for all players, who it must be said were not helped in their attempts at kicking a football over a total of roughly 900 yards, with them being somewhat flat! However, the players gamely put in maximum effort in order to attain as competitive scores as possible.

After the 9 holes had been completed by all teams, everyone adjourned to the clubhouse for a well-earned drink and a generous buffet lunch. With lunch taken ‘al fresco’ and guests basking in the afternoon sun, the hostess with the mostess, Suki Bains, read out the scores on the doors and presented prizes to the winning team and player who had achieved the best personal score.

BRI’s Joe Carroll and his team of Gavin O’Donovan of Machins, Adam Fernandes of UHY Hacker Young (who unfortunately was limited to scoring duty due to a recent injury) and Peter Blessing of Handelsbanken were the winning team, beating second place by just 1 shot, and were awarded a bottle of wine apiece for their efforts.

However, it was Mr Alan Adams of Pulse Cashflow Finance who was the highest scorer of the day and he collected a trophy for his efforts, which shall now be known as the ‘Alan D’Or’.

A very enjoyable time was had by all and BRI would like to thank those who attended for their enthusiasm for the event and great company.
