A Trip To The Palace
20 May 2016: Alan Limb, from BRI’s Southampton Office, has volunteered as a Business Mentor for the Prince’s Trust for the past 15 years. In that time he has supported a total of 11 disadvantaged young people who have started their own business with help from the Trust. Alan says, “I find volunteering in this way incredibly rewarding. As an Insolvency Practitioner I have a great deal of knowledge about why businesses fail. This is also extremely useful in my role as a Mentor for the Prince’s Trust in helping young people start a profitable business.” Alan’s current Mentee is Clare Goble who runs Twisted Inflations ( https://twistedinflations.wix.com/twistedinflationsuk ) which is based on the Isle of Wight and specialises in balloon modelling.
The Prince’s Trust was started by Prince Charles in 1976. Since then it has helped 825,000 young people change their lives via a variety of programmes which equip them with skills and training to make a success of their future. The Prince recently hosted a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Trust’s 40th Anniversary and Alan was invited to attend. Alan commented afterwards, “It was a tremendous celebration of the good work that the Prince’s Trust does. There were young people present that the Trust has helped, all of whom have uplifting stories to tell. Also, there was a cross section of all the people make the Trust so successful whether they are volunteers like me, the Trust’s own staff or celebrities who assist with fundraising.”
