3 March 2016: Alan Limb from BRI's Southampton Office has been a Director of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce since 2013, representing Chamber Members from the Professional and Business Services sectors. Alan has now accepted an invitation from the Chamber to act as a Director of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Opportunity Society Ltd ("HIWOS"), the Chamber's company that runs the Isle of Wight Lottery.
The Isle of Wight Lottery was the first lottery in the UK designed to create employment opportunities. It raises money through a weekly draw and from the sale of scratch cards. These funds are used to provide interest free loans and other support to small and start up businesses. The Lottery has helped to create nearly 400 jobs in local businesses since 2001.
Alan said, "I was delighted to accept the Chamber's invitation to become a Director of HIWOS. I have really enjoyed sitting on the Chamber Board so far and I feel that this invitation confirms that my contribution is valued. Much of my working life is spent advising Directors of other companies and I believe that my involvement as a Director of both Chamber companies helps make me more credible in that role. There are challenging times ahead for the Chamber to ensure that it continues to represent Island businesses effectively and remains one of the leading Chambers of Commerce in the UK. The Lottery is working hard in a competitive market so that it can continue to provide business funding and support. I look forward to contributing to the success of both companies".
