Do Something Amazing
Regular blood donor Peter Windatt, a licensed insolvency practitioner and director of BRI Business Recovery and Insolvency has reached a new donation milestone having given his 75th pint! Not bad for a man whose job often sees him branded as a ‘blood sucker’!
The local insolvency expert helps companies and individuals who find themselves in extreme financial difficulty, a role not usually renowned for its generosity. The 51-year-old showed his true colours by reaching the milestone 75th pint and has pledged to continue. The NHS Blood & Transplant Service recognised this achievement by presenting Peter with a badge and certificate during the donor session in Duston, Northampton.
A spokesperson for the service said: “Loyal donors like Peter are the lifeblood of the service. The fact that they give up their own time, three times a year, means that we can supply UK hospitals with the 8,000 donations of blood they require every day.”
Peter, from Daventry, began giving blood with a colleague while working in London some 30 years ago. He said: “I’ve come across so many people for whom blood and blood products have been key to their recovery. It’s so easy to help save a life. Each pint given is likely to help 3 people”
Peter is proud that his son chose to continue the family tradition upon reaching the minimum age of 17. “He is up to 5 pints already and has signed up for the Bone Marrow Registry too”.
